Xu Lin was born with a glandular atrophy and could only be an ordinary beta. Because of an accident, and in order to protect the person he loved, his face was disfigured.
After this accident, Ji Jixuan proposed to him.
Xu Lin’s years of affection were finally reciprocated. He finally got his wish and married the Ji Jixuan he loved most.
Ji Jixuan’s status was special, so they couldn’t officially register their marriage, and the wedding couldn’t be grand or public. It could only be held quietly. On the wedding day, there was only one guest present, making it a cold and cheerless affair. But Xu Lin didn’t care, he loved his wedding very much.
For six years of marriage, Ji Jixuan rarely came home. The two spent little time together and were often apart. Xu Lin understood that he was busy with affairs, so he didn’t argue or make a fuss, unwilling to cause him any trouble. He obediently guarded the home that contained only himself.
Until one day, he inadvertently stumbled into a crowded engagement banquet. The place was bustling with noise and voices, and the new couple standing among the crowd was all too familiar to him. Ji Jixuan, his husband, was engaged to someone else.
It was only then that he woke up as if from a dream. He learned that the wedding back then was merely a dream Ji Jixuan, out of gratitude, had charitably bestowed upon him, a game of house that only Xu Lin had taken seriously.
It wasn’t that the wedding couldn’t be grand and public, it just depended on who the other person was.
The marriage he was so proud of was “in his eyes alone.”

Welcome to Jade Lanterns.
May this little corner be a quiet place where stories find their readers, and where every chapter is enjoyed with the same care and affection with which it was translated.
A Gentle Request
Unless otherwise stated, the translations found here are not to be reproduced, redistributed, republished, or re-translated in any form. This includes EPUBs, PDFs, mirror sites, aggregator websites, and similar archives.
These translations are born from admiration for the original work and are shared as a labor of love. They are not official publications, but rather my own humble interpretation of another author’s words.
Every language carries its own rhythm, customs, and quiet meanings. Along the way, some nuances must inevitably change, while others can only be explained through notes and commentary. I do my utmost to preserve the spirit of the original text, yet every translation remains, in the end, an interpretation seen through another language.
For this reason, I kindly ask that my English translations not be used as the foundation for translations into other languages. If you wish to bring these stories to new readers, please begin with the original RAWs whenever possible. It is the surest way to honor the author’s intended voice without placing another layer of interpretation between their words and your own.
English is not my first language, so there may be moments where a phrase falters or a sentence could be better woven. Should you notice any typographical errors, mistranslations, or passages that seem unclear, I would be sincerely grateful for your thoughtful corrections. My comments are always open to respectful feedback.
Lastly, I kindly ask that these translations remain here at Jade Lanterns. Please do not repost them elsewhere or upload them to mirror sites, or other aggregators. Your visit here means more than you may know, and it allows me to continue sharing these stories with care.
May your journey through these pages be a pleasant one.
A Lantern for the Original Authors
Every story begins with an author.
Behind each chapter are countless unseen hours spent imagining, writing, revising, and breathing life into worlds that become dear to us. If these stories have brought you comfort, laughter, or heartache, I hope you might consider supporting the people who first gave them life.
Purchasing from the official source is the simplest and most meaningful way to thank an author. Every chapter bought, no matter how small the gesture may seem, encourages them to continue creating the stories we cherish.
Should the process feel unfamiliar, there is no need to worry. I have gathered a collection of guides to help you along the way, written by generous members of the community who have kindly shared their knowledge.
Purchase Guides
For resources—including purchase guides for JJWXC, Gongzicp, audio dramas, masterlists, translation materials, and other helpful references—you are warmly invited to explore the resource pages here at Jade Lanterns.
Thank you for supporting both the authors who first lit these lanterns, and the readers who keep their light alive.
