    Chapter Index

Hey everyone! Thanks so much for being here and taking the time to read!

As you may have noticed, I’m currently in the process of migrating things over to this site from CG and getting everything set up. It’s a bit of a work in progress, so please bear with me while I move things around, fix things up, and slowly get everything where it needs to be!

Another little note: at the moment, this site is being funded entirely out of the owner’s pocket. Keeping everything running does come with some costs, so if you enjoy the site and would like to help support it, donations are always very much appreciated. 💛

Thanks for sticking around while I get everything settled, and I hope you enjoy the site! 🙂

    1.

    Rainy night, docks.

A black figure stumbled and weaved through rows of shipping containers, with two people in close pursuit behind him.

Accidentally rushing out of the container maze, the figure was exposed on the open dock. He wanted to turn back and find other cover, but the two who had caught up blocked his path.

“Ge.” Zhan Yuan retreated to the water’s edge, glanced back at the ink-black sea, swayed unsteadily, his panicked voice carrying a hint of ingratiation, “Listen to me, I’ll return the identity to you. Can you let me live?”

Zhan Gao, who had just left the National Research Institute, was still wearing his white lab coat, now soaked by the rain, his trouser legs stained with filth. He combed his wet hair back with his fingers, letting the raindrops pelt his face, and said with a laugh, “My foolish little brother, how could I possibly let you live?”

Zhan Yuan’s expression changed. With the determination to fight to the death, he charged at Zhan Gao. “Then let’s see!”

A gunshot cut through the night sky. Zhan Yuan’s figure abruptly halted. Chou Wei held the gun expressionlessly, its muzzle aimed at Zhan Yuan’s heart.

Zhan Yuan looked at Chou Wei with disbelief, a wave of resentment surfacing on his face. But before he could say anything, he staggered backward and fell into the vast, boundless sea.

“Tch.” Zhan Gao came to the shore, saw no sign of Zhan Yuan’s body, and showed dissatisfaction. “Why did you shoot? You think I couldn’t handle him?”

“Afraid of complications,” Chou Wei said, unruffled. “Tomorrow, after you rob the bank, ditch the helicopter in the sea. I’ll arrange the rest.”

    2.

His chest hurt terribly, as if a large hand were gripping his heart tightly, trying to squeeze out the last drop of blood. The nightmare persisted, the feeling of suffocation clinging to him like a shadow. Struggling endlessly in the chaotic seawater, Zhan Yuan finally snapped his eyes open, only to find himself lying on a large bed. The slightest movement produced a sound from the chain on his right foot.

    …Where is this?

The room’s layout was familiar. It was the bedroom in Chou Wei’s house. Zhan Yuan had been here countless times, leaving his mark on this very bed each time.

But the nailed-shut windows, the soundproofing foam covering the walls, and the surveillance camera in the corner made it feel utterly unfamiliar. Looking down at his chest where he’d been shot, now completely unharmed, added to his disorientation.

“Awake?” The door was pushed open. Chou Wei, dressed in casual homewear, walked in. He held a cup of steaming ginger tea and handed it to Zhan Yuan. “Drink this.”

His first instinct was to take the cup, accustomed to Chou Wei serving him. But scenes from the dock flooded his mind. Zhan Yuan frowned and asked, “What exactly is going on?”

“You didn’t die,” Chou Wei stated succinctly.

The suit Zhan Yuan wore had been prepared by him. He had installed a protective plate over the chest, so the bullet didn’t penetrate.

“You saved me?” Judging by the outcome, that seemed to be the case. Zhan Yuan temporarily lowered his guard, thinking Chou Wei might have been threatened by Zhan Gao. But the chain on his right foot bothered him greatly. He moved his ankle and asked, “Why are you chaining me up?”

Chou Wei placed the ginger tea on the bedside table nearby, his expression neutral as he said, “A dog, of course, needs to be chained up.”

Zhan Yuan’s face stiffened. He lunged up and grabbed Chou Wei by the throat. “How dare you talk to me like that?”

In the past, no matter how rough Zhan Yuan was with Chou Wei, Chou Wei would always endure it silently. But this time, he released alpha pheromones of comparable strength, pried Zhan Yuan’s wrist away, and raised an eyebrow, asking, “Did you really think I couldn’t beat you?”

Zhan Yuan swung his other hand with force. As the fist swept toward his cheek, Chou Wei dodged in time and punched Zhan Yuan in the stomach. Zhan Yuan grunted in pain.

    “You dare hit me?!”

Chou Wei leisurely took off his glasses and removed his jacket. “I’ve wanted to beat you up for a long time.”

In the room, high-concentration alpha pheromones clashed. The two men on the bed wrestled, evenly matched. But Zhan Yuan’s right foot was chained, restricting his movements. Gradually, he lost the upper hand. Chou Wei straddled Zhan Yuan’s chest, and a fist landed on that straight bridge of his nose, instantly causing blood to splatter.

Both alphas were fighting with red-hot fury. Chou Wei had completely lost his usual composure. Bloodthirsty factors agitated within him, excitement surging to his head, he only wanted Zhan Yuan to suffer more.

Zhan Yuan was beaten into a daze. By the time he regained his senses, the clothes on his body had been torn to shreds by Chou Wei.

“What are you doing?!” One leg chained, the other hoisted by Chou Wei, the alpha’s final stronghold was exposed under the light. Zhan Yuan completely panicked. “If you dare treat me like this, I’ll kill you!”

The threat only acted as a catalyst. Chou Wei sneered, sank his hips down, and intense, sharp pain shot through Zhan Yuan, who let out a scream. “AHH—”

The pent-up resentment finally found release. Chou Wei gripped Zhan Yuan’s jaw, stifling his roars, letting Zhan Yuan’s canine teeth sink into the base of his thumb. He leaned close slowly. “How you treated me before… I’ll take it all back, slowly.”

    3.

Half a month passed. Zhan Yuan went from going crazy at the sight of Chou Wei, getting beaten black and blue each time, with his lower body tortured beyond recognition, to finally recognizing reality—the more disobedient he was, the worse he suffered.

He started blaming heaven and others, thinking about how he would seek revenge after getting out. But the confined cage gradually pushed his spirit to the brink of collapse. After all the resentment, he began reflecting on the past. Had he really been that terrible to Chou Wei?

It was just forcing him countless times against his will.

And then finding new lovers from time to time… Chou Wei didn’t mind anyway.

Besides that, he admitted he usually ordered Chou Wei around arrogantly, but he was the esteemed Parliamentary Speaker, wasn’t that how it should be?

The sound of the door opening rang out. The drowsy Zhan Yuan jolted awake as if triggered. Watching Chou Wei enter, he shrank back and said, “You’re back from work.”

“Mn.” Having seen from the surveillance that Zhan Yuan had been well-behaved all day, not like before when he was always scheming to escape, Chou Wei reached out, wanting to pat Zhan Yuan’s head as a reward. But Zhan Yuan instinctively dodged. Chou Wei’s expression turned cold, he dismissed the thought, sat down on the chair by the desk, and said, “Your brother’s temper has gotten stranger and stranger since his fiance died.”

It had already been half a month since Xu Pei disappeared, falling into the river while fleeing with his strange companion. Since then, Zhan Gao found it increasingly difficult to suppress his S-grade gland, often revealing a violent side. Many people in the office had noticed the abnormality.

“He quite liked that fiance of his,” Zhan Yuan said cautiously, observing Chou Wei’s expression. “If this continues, the secret will get out, right?”

Chou Wei didn’t respond, just rubbed the space between his brows with a headache.

“Do you remember when I was running for Speaker?” Seizing an opportunity, Zhan Yuan played the emotional card. “We cooperated seamlessly, the approval ratings kept climbing… Now I’ve finally secured the position, it’s the perfect time for us to achieve great things…”

Chou Wei coldly interrupted Zhan Yuan. “What are you trying to say?”

“You know I’m more suited to be the Speaker,” Zhan Yuan pleaded. “Swap me back, Chou Wei. I promise I’ll treat you well after switching back.”

Seeing Chou Wei remain noncommittal, Zhan Yuan added, “I paid for your father’s treatment, got him the best hospital room, the best treatment. Considering all these things…”

“You forgot my father has already passed away,” Chou Wei said flatly. “If it weren’t for the help you gave me back then, you’d be dead already too.”

Zhan Yuan didn’t dare make a sound anymore. Chou Wei stood up, loosened his tie, and rolled up his sleeves. “Stay put. I’ll go make dinner.”

Chou Wei’s cooking skills were excellent. He could always satisfy Zhan Yuan’s appetite. And appetite was often linked with sexual desire. Whenever Zhan Yuan had eaten and drunk his fill, he would always find an opportunity to satisfy his sexual desires as well.

The thing he had once been most enthusiastic about was now something he avoided like the plague. The mere thought of being fucked half to death after the meal made Zhan Yuan lose his appetite completely. In less than a month, he had already lost twenty pounds.

Even his ankle had become much thinner.

He discovered he could slip his foot out of the iron ring on an utterly ordinary evening.

Chou Wei was probably working overtime, as night deepened and he still hadn’t returned home. Zhan Yuan was desperately thirsty. He shifted to reach for the water cup on the bedside table, but heard a ‘clang’. The chain attached to the foot of the bed fell to the floor.

    He was free.

Realizing this, immense joy flooded Zhan Yuan. He ran out of Chou Wei’s house like a madman, bumping into another resident who was about to go upstairs as he exited the elevator. He initially thought about asking this person to help him call the police, but the moment he opened his mouth, the other person gave him an annoyed look for being bumped into, looking at him as if he were a stranger. A bucket of cold water seemed to pour over Zhan Yuan’s head.

In his current state, neither human nor ghost, no one recognized him as Speaker Zhan.

If he stood in front of Zhan Gao now, what did he have to confront him with?

Right, he should go home first.

His ID documents, bank cards were all at home. He needed to report his phone number lost, contact others from his office, then prove that he was the real Speaker Zhan…

    Wait, and then what?

He and Zhan Gao had already swapped identities once. As long as Zhan Gao exposed this fact, he could easily drag Zhan Yuan down with him.

Or seek help from his family?

But in the current situation, it was a life-or-death struggle between him and Zhan Gao. If the family could only protect one of their two sons, without a doubt, the S-grade alpha Zhan Gao would be the one they’d choose to protect, especially since Zhan Yuan had been living a stolen life for the past ten years anyway.

Regardless, without money, he couldn’t take a single step. He still had to go home to get his documents and bank cards.

    5.

Considering Chou Wei was still at work and Zhan Gao was probably also working, Zhan Yuan dragged his battered body on foot back to the downtown residential compound. Seeing from downstairs that the lights in his home were off, he went up to his own front door and used his fingerprint to unlock it.

Thankfully, Zhan Gao, having probably been asleep for ten years, wasn’t very adept at setting up these kinds of things. Zhan Yuan could almost imagine Chou Wei helping Zhan Gao register the unlock fingerprint, without resetting the door lock.

However, the moment he stepped inside, Zhan Yuan sensed something was wrong.

Although the living room lights were off, a sliver of light seeped from under the bedroom door. Along with it seeped a high concentration of Alpha pheromones, mixed with a floral scent Zhan Yuan knew all too well—Chou Wei’s.

A bad feeling rose in his heart. Zhan Yuan’s heart leaped into his throat. Feeling his way along the wall to the bedroom door, he saw on the luxurious bed he had personally purchased, Zhan Gao was pressing Chou Wei down, baring his ferocious canine teeth.

“Secretary Chou, I heard I can mark an alpha,” Zhan Gao said, lowering his head to lick Chou Wei’s gland, occasionally grazing it with the tips of his teeth. “Want to try?”

Chou Wei had one arm twisted behind his back by Zhan Gao, the other gripping the sheets tightly, his face full of humiliation. “Since when are you interested in alphas?”

“Maybe it’s the tacit understanding between brothers?” Zhan Gao said with a laugh. “I can understand why Zhan Yuan was so obsessed with you. You’re too much fun.”

After saying this, Zhan Gao parted his lips, his canine teeth seemingly about to pierce Chou Wei’s gland.

    6.

Charging in would be suicidal. Zhan Yuan stared blankly at the scene before him.

He knew very well he was no match for Zhan Gao, and Zhan Gao was the person in the world who wanted him dead the most, bar none.

He should pretend he saw nothing, leave quietly. After all, even if he escaped, Chou Wei wouldn’t inform Zhan Gao. He could always sneak back the next day after Zhan Gao went to work.

But his body acted independently of his mind. Zhan Yuan, mustering strength from who knows where, violently pushed the door open and shoved Zhan Gao away. “Don’t touch him!”

Zhan Gao was startled. Recognizing Zhan Yuan, he immediately flew into a rage and demanded of Chou Wei, “He’s not dead?”

Zhan Yuan pulled Chou Wei up and shielded him behind his back, roaring at Zhan Gao, “He’s mine! If you want to touch him, you’ll have to kill me first!”

Chou Wei closed his eyes, an expression of utter exasperation on his face. “You managed to escape, so why come back here?”

Great. Now Zhan Gao knew he had spared Zhan Yuan’s life. He wouldn’t let Chou Wei off either now.

“If I hadn’t come, he would have marked you,” Zhan Yuan spat.

Chou Wei was furious. “Shut up.”

“How interesting,” Zhan Gao said leisurely, releasing oppressive pheromones, a killing intent already surfacing in his eyes. “So it’s true love between you two?”

Chou Wei felt disgusted by the description but had no time to refute it. Enduring the discomfort, he said, “Are you sure you want to take action against both of us here?

“Let me remind you, a high-end residential compound is full of surveillance cameras. First, consider whether you have the ability to dispose of our bodies.

“Anyway, colleagues know I came back here with you. When the police check the surveillance and see Zhan Yuan, can you explain it clearly?

“I know who to contact to suppress this kind of incident. If you do it yourself, do you know how to handle it?”

The suffocating pressure from the pheromones receded slightly. Zhan Gao looked at Chou Wei with composure and asked, “What, are you suggesting I just let you both leave?”

“Let us go,” Chou Wei said. “You be your Speaker Zhan. He and I will never appear before you again.”

Zhan Gao didn’t state his position, his face somewhat gloomy, as if weighing the options.

Seizing his indecision, Chou Wei pulled Zhan Yuan back step by step, reminding him, “People in the office are already starting to suspect you. I advise you not to create more trouble.”

Over the past month, to avoid exposing flaws, Zhan Gao’s external communications had all needed to go through Chou Wei.

Just as Chou Wei said, if he wanted to suppress two homicides, it was impossible without seeking help from others. But without Chou Wei, Zhan Gao would be like losing his right-hand man, unable to mobilize his connections and resources.

    7.

In the end, Chou Wei managed to lead Zhan Yuan out of the entrance hall without Zhan Gao making a move, but the killing intent in his eyes had not diminished in the slightest.

They retrieved the car from the parking lot. Chou Wei floored the accelerator and left the residential complex without delay. Sitting in the passenger seat, Zhan Yuan, seeing him preoccupied with worry, tried to console him. “He probably won’t follow us.

“He just doesn’t want us to die in his house. Once we get far enough away, he can make his move anytime.”

“So, we can only run for our lives now?” Zhan Yuan asked. “Couldn’t we also expose him?”

Chou Wei’s mind was a mess, and having this idiot Zhan Yuan beside him only added to his irritation. He drove the car into a quiet alley, unlocked the doors, and said to Zhan Yuan, “You can get lost.”

Zhan Yuan didn’t move, sounding somewhat aggrieved. “Where would I go?”

“Like I care where you go,” Chou Wei said irritably. “Get lost!”

He could barely manage his own situation now, how could he possibly spare any effort for Zhan Yuan?

“Don’t be so heartless,” Zhan Yuan muttered, opening the car door and getting out. “There’s no place left for me here. If you won’t take care of me, I might as well just die.”

“Then go die,” Chou Wei said expressionlessly as he stepped on the accelerator, spewing exhaust fumes in Zhan Yuan’s face.

Zhan Yuan truly had nowhere to go. He could only stay where he was, staring in the direction Chou Wei had left.

Back at the bedroom door earlier, he didn’t even know why he had rushed out. Over the past month, Chou Wei had subjected him to every kind of humiliation. Seeing Chou Wei in trouble, he should have been gleeful. But he just couldn’t stand the thought of anyone else touching Chou Wei.

The taillights of the receding car lit up, followed by the reverse lights. The tires spun too fast, skidding twice on the asphalt before gripping the road, and the car sped backward towards Zhan Yuan.

The car kept accelerating, showing no signs of stopping.

Zhan Yuan stood there bewildered, thinking, ‘Is Chou Wei planning to run me over now?’

Although he didn’t know why, given all the things he’d done before, he probably deserved to die.

But did Chou Wei really hate him this much?

It seemed he had never really cared about what Chou Wei was thinking.

Fine, if I die, I die. Anyway, without Chou Wei, he couldn’t survive on the run alone. Death wasn’t far off either.

With a screech, the car jerked to a halt just ten centimeters away from Zhan Yuan, snapping him out of his thoughts and bringing him back to life.

The car window rolled down, revealing Chou Wei’s frustrated voice. “Get in.”

A surge of joy rose in Zhan Yuan’s heart. He eagerly climbed back into the passenger seat. “I knew you couldn’t bear to leave me.”

“Bullshit,” Chou Wei frowned and said. “I can’t swallow this anger. Even if I die, I’m exposing him first.”
