Extra Chapter Character Settings:
Elite Pei: Averse to alphas, an unattainable flower on a high peak.
Mayor He: Not emotionally impaired, excellent since childhood.
Pheromones, impotent, alpha. These were some confusing words.
Among them, only “impotent” was understandable in meaning, but He Yixun didn’t see how it related to him.
Security arrived quickly at the office, taking the suspicious individual from He Yixun’s grasp, asking the same question, “Who are you? How did you get in?”
The suspicious individual seemed quite angry. He Yixun didn’t understand how someone breaking into his office could have the audacity to be angry. Xu Pei said, suppressing his rage, “I am Xu Pei, Chief Scientific Officer of Delan Pharmaceuticals. Just where is Binshi?”
… Xu Pei?
“Wait.” A name from the depths of his memory suddenly appearing by his ear, He Yixun quickly stopped the security guards preparing to take the man away and asked, “You are Xu Pei?”
The suspicious individual probably thought the name Delan Pharmaceuticals had some effect. He calmed his breathing and said, still displeased, “Yes.”
Somewhat impolitely, He Yixun took off the other’s gold-rimmed glasses. Beautiful eyes, now tinged with anger, were revealed. The facial features did bear some resemblance to those in his memory. He Yixun said to the guards, “It’s fine. I know him.”
Although not entirely certain, He Yixun had a premonition that he might have finally waited for that person.
After the guards left, Xu Pei rubbed his wrist, frowning slightly, his tone still not great. “You know me?”
“Did you go to an amusement park when you were little?” He Yixun asked.
The seemingly random topic left Xu Pei baffled. *What amusement park?”
The only thing that could prove that person had been there was at home. He Yixun didn’t explain much. “Come with me.”
His 10th birthday was very special for He Yixun.
That day, his parents finally found time to take him to the amusement park. He remembered a balloon-shooting game at the entrance. His mother, a military officer, showed off her skills, making the other children quite envious.
After getting the first prize, the family prepared to go to the next ride. On the way, little He Yixun suddenly needed to use the restroom. His parents took him to the restroom and let him go in by himself.
A 10-year-old boy was perfectly capable of using the restroom alone. But when little He Yixun came out, his parents were gone.
He Yixun later found out a thief was causing trouble, and his parents had gone to do the right thing. But at the time, he wasn’t panicking. Since their next destination was the pirate ship, he thought he could find them there.
Seeing the pirate ship ride in the distance, He Yixun headed straight for it. However, as he walked, he entered a maze-like tree-lined path. Looking up, dense branches blocked his view of the pirate ship, and he soon lost his way.
It was then that he saw a pretty boy in a little suit, standing at a fork in the path, looking left and right, like a staff member dressed as a cartoon character.
Actually, even after growing up, He Yixun couldn’t understand why he thought a child could be amusement park staff. But a child’s train of thought is just that strange.
He walked up to the little boy and asked, “Excuse me, which way is the pirate ship?”
The little boy shook his head blankly.
He Yixun asked again, “Aren’t you the person giving directions?”
The little boy still shook his head.
Since he wasn’t giving directions, he must be a visitor to the amusement park. Seeing him alone and lonely, He Yixun said, “Then, do you want to go on the pirate ship with me?”
The little boy looked hesitant, then nodded.
Without caring if the other agreed or not, He Yixun took the little boy’s hand and walked forward based on intuition. “What’s your name? I’m He Yixun.”
The little boy said, “Xu Pei.”
He Yixun: “Which ‘Pei’?”
Xu Pei: “The ‘Pei’ in ”cultivate into a pillar of talent.”
“Sounds really nice,” said He Yixun. “Where are your parents?”
A flicker of confusion passed through Xu Pei’s eyes. He said, “They’re in the car.”
Just a moment before, Xu Pei had also been in the car.
“Did they just let you come here by yourself?” He Yixun thought Xu Pei’s parents were quite careless, and he suddenly felt a sense of responsibility to take good care of Xu Pei. After all, Xu Pei was so good-looking, like a doll. It would be terrible if some bad person took him away.
“I don’t know either,” said Xu Pei. “It feels like I’m dreaming.”
“You’re not dreaming; you’re at an amusement park,” He Yixun said. “We’re here!”
The pirate ship appeared at the end of the tree-lined path. The previous ride had just ended, and people were disembarking, still buzzing with excitement. Both Xu Pei and He Yixun were taller than the free admission height. He Yixun used his pocket money to buy two tickets, completely forgetting that he was supposed to meet his parents here.
“You can hold my hand if you’re scared,” He Yixun offered.
“I’m not scared,” Xu Pei replied.
In the end, the two of them still held hands as they boarded the pirate ship.
Once children start playing, they can forget everything else. Upon learning that it was also the little boy’s birthday that day, He Yixun contributed all of his pocket money, treating him to amusement park rides and snacks. It wasn’t until he had spent the last coin in his pocket that he faintly heard his name being called over the park’s broadcast system.
“Oh no! My parents are looking for me.”
So, when Lin Mei and He Maohu finally found He Yixun, they saw that he had somehow picked up a beautiful little boy.
The little boy could state his own name and clearly recite his parents’ information. However, the mobile number he gave was strange. It started with a 9, whereas normal numbers start with 1, and the number of digits didn’t match either.
The couple decided to call the police. The officers checked the amusement park’s surveillance footage extensively but couldn’t find the boy’s parents, so they planned to take him back to the police station. But He Yixun absolutely refused to be separated from him. Considering that Lin Mei was a military officer and not a suspicious person, the police let the couple take the boy home temporarily, agreeing to contact them if any news surfaced.
The couple took the little boy along for a birthday feast. That night, after returning home, both children, exhausted from the day’s fun, quickly fell asleep. The little boy changed into He Yixun’s pajamas and squeezed into He Yixun’s small bed with him.
However, when they woke the next morning—
The little boy had vanished.
His little suit remained in the room, along with the photo booth pictures of him and He Yixun taken at the amusement park. But despite checking all the surveillance footage, Lin Mei and He Maohu found no trace of where the boy could have gone.
In the end, the matter was dropped. But He Yixun always kept it in his heart.
During a physics class in higher grades, he learned about the concept of parallel universes and suddenly realized that Xu Pei’s disappearance back then might have been because he came from another dimension. It was the only explanation that fit scientifically.
However, while he remembered it, He Yixun wasn’t exactly preoccupied with that childhood episode. He lived his life normally, worked hard, excelled all the way, and eventually became the youngest mayor in Binshi’s history.
Then, tonight, he returned to his office to look up some documents and ran into a certain suspicious individual.
After bringing the man back to his spacious penthouse in the city center, He Yixun pulled an old photo album and took out a photo booth picture, handing it to Xu Pei. “Take a look. Is this you?”
Holding the photo, distant memories gradually flooded back, making He Yixun even more certain that the person before him was the little boy who had shared his tenth birthday. However, the boy’s features had matured, becoming sharper and more defined than in childhood, like an untouchable flower blooming on a high peak, beautiful yet distant.
On the way here, Xu Pei had remained vigilant. When he realized He Yixun was taking him to his home, his wariness peaked.
It wasn’t that Xu Pei was overly paranoid. In his world, too many alphas held hostility towards him. He had even been labeled by vulgar tabloids as the omega most people wanted to ‘conquer,’ which made him deeply resent alphas. Coupled with just having experienced an attempted murder, it was hard for him to relax.
But the moment he saw the photo booth picture, all his vigilance and suspicion vanished into thin air.
Xu Pei stared blankly at He Yixun. “So… I really did die?”
Why else would he appear in a dream?
“No, you’ve crossed worlds,” He Yixun clarified. “You came here once when you were a child. Don’t you remember?”
Xu Pei walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window, looking down at the city’s nightscape below. Rows of skyscrapers stood like black silhouettes, tracing the city’s skyline of light and shadow. In the distance lay the vast, hazy sea, with a bright full moon hanging above it—a sight Xu Pei had never seen before.
“I remember,” Xu Pei said to He Yixun’s reflection in the window. “You took me to play at the amusement park.”
No wonder the name ‘He Yixun’ felt both unfamiliar and vaguely familiar. It had appeared in his “dream” after all.
“It was me,” He Yixun walked to stand beside Xu Pei. He glanced at Xu Pei’s blood-stained suit and asked, “What happened to you?”
Thinking back, the last time Xu Pei had come here was during a car accident with his parents. This time, he had faced a murder attempt—both times, his life was in imminent danger. Perhaps it was truly as He Yixun said that he crossed into another world whenever he encountered grave danger.
Even if he couldn’t explain why, as a scientific researcher himself, Xu Pei knew there were too many unsolved mysteries in existence.
“Someone tried to kill me,” Xu Pei exhaled, finding the smell of blood on him utterly unbearable. “Can I borrow your shower?”
“Sure.” Seeing Xu Pei’s exhausted expression and his apparent reluctance to elaborate, He Yixun didn’t press further. “I’ll get you a change of clothes.”
Alone in the bathroom, Xu Pei’s sensation became more pronounced. His pheromone levels were definitely off.
Even though he had received stabilizer treatment and should have been able to control his pheromone levels without relying on an inhibitor, his gland was persistently red and hot. The cloyingly sweet scent of honey permeated the air around him. He didn’t know if it was due to the influence of this world, or if it was a reaction triggered back in the office when He Yixun had pinned him by the nape of his neck.
It seemed this world had no pheromones, and naturally, no inhibitors or other medications to regulate them either.
If this continued and it triggered a heat… that would be disastrous…
Exiting the bathroom, Xu Pei had only put on the loose T-shirt. He placed the trousers on the sofa. “Your pants don’t fit me.”
Even with the waistband tightened to its smallest setting, they wouldn’t stay on his hip bones. It wasn’t that He Yixun was fat. In fact, he had an excellent build with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, but Xu Pei had a smaller frame and couldn’t fill them out.
He Yixun, who had been reviewing documents on his laptop, looked up and was met with an unprepared view of Xu Pei’s bare legs—straight, long, and fair-skinned, with ankles so slender they looked like one could encircle them with a single hand.
Combined with the metal-chain glasses he wore, giving him a proper, serious air, his completely unclothed lower half added a hint of licentiousness to the picture.
He Yixun prided himself on being a gentleman who wouldn’t entertain improper thoughts, and he consciously averted his gaze.
Unless someone made him entertain them.
Xu Pei, using the towel draped around his neck to dry his wet hair, asked, “Do you have anything like a… massage wand here?”
‘Massage wand’, a term with clear erotic connotations, was uttered in a completely ordinary tone.
He Yixun didn’t quite understand Xu Pei’s meaning, but breaking the word down, it was just ‘massage’ plus ‘wand’, a stick for massaging. Given that Xu Pei was from another world, perhaps the term didn’t carry any special meaning there.
He Yixun asked, “Are your muscles sore?”
“No,” Xu Pei shook his head. He felt a trace of embarrassment, but it was overridden by the urgency of his impending heat—or perhaps, because he hadn’t fully accepted the reality of crossing worlds yet. This world felt like a virtual space to him, lacking social context. He didn’t really see He Yixun as a real person, so he naturally felt no embarrassment towards him. His tone remained serious and calm as he stated, “I need to masturbate.”
